How can I help Japan-TV fansubs?
There are numerous ways of helping us. One of the quickest ways is to set up an fserve in our IRC channel or by seeding our torrents. Please refer to the !frules for instructions on how. You may also donate to the group to help fund future releases. Finally, we are always looking for more translators that are proficient in producing quality translations in a timely manner.
Can we request new projects? What if I supply the raws?
We generally decide what projects to do from our available resources. If you are set on having a certain drama translated, you can refer to our
forum and generate interest for consideration. Please post in the appropriate forum and keep in mind that repeatedly annoying our staff to do something will probably be counterproductive.
Why start new series when there are plenty unfinished projects?
Although all jtv staff work under one name, release files at one place, and share common administration, individual series are completed under the auspice of a seperate team. Thus, each show progresses or not according to the pressures that act upon the people currently assigned to it. So if you want a series to be completed, join and help.
I have a completed download of your release, but I can't play it back! HELP!!!
It's most likely a codec problem. You can either find the specific codec or try the following:
- Uninstall all your codecs.
- Restart your computer.
- Install the defilerpak.
When is the next release going to be out?
We encourage everyone to be patient while our Translators do their work. Remember, this is fan-subbing, our staff and members participate because they want to. Sometimes events in real life take precedence and releases get delayed, but we our goal is to release in timely fashion. You can check the release schedule in the topic of the channel.
I just saw one of your releases and I love it! Where I can get the soundtrack?
We do not provide soundtracks for any of the projects we do. Sometimes file servers in the IRC channel may have soundtracks to certain series but we encourage viewers to instead support the shows they love by buying the DVD and soundtrack.
What are newsgroups and Bittorrent?
The explanations to these two distribution methods are too long to mention here. Please use your favourite search engine instead to find out what they are.
How come my torrent isn't progressing?
Can I request files?
We wish to remind users that trading is not allowed in our IRC channel. Requests for files can be made if you have been given voice status or if you have already obtain 90% of the file. Request for seeds can be done in the main channel anytime as long as the seeding requests are reasonably spaced (i.e. two seeding requests per hour). You can also make requests for seeds on our
forum.
Can I get timed scripts?
We do not give out timed scripts for any reason.

- Those who do not follow the rules will be kicked or possibly banned from the channel.
- Courtesy and respect is expected at all times.
- Channel commands consist of !list and @find.
- We are only tolerant of one @find command every five minutes.
- We do now allow JTV releases to be renamed.
- There is to be no discussion of the ending to any drama.
- Trading or advertising is not allowed in the channel.
- Requests for raws or scripts will be ignored and possibly punished.
- Private messages to channel operaters and half-operators should only concern channel matters.
How do I register and identify my nickname?
To register, type /nickserv REGISTER password email. To identify to services, type /nickserv IDENTIFY password. The words password and email are to be replaced with your real email and the password of your choice. The nickname used at the time you issue the register command will then belong to you if it does not belong to anyone else.
What if I get disconnected and there is still a ghost of my previous connection?
If you have registered your nickname, you can forcefully terminate the previous connection by using the ghost command, /nickserv GHOST nickname password.
How come I keep getting [10054] Connection reset by peer?
Connection reset by peer is a difficult problem to diagnose because it can be caused by many different reasons. Essentially, the server determines the network connection is no longer good and forcefully terminates the connection.
Will I still get my file in the queue if I change my nick or leave the channel?
You will get your file if you change your nick. However, you might not get your file if you leave the channel. It is safest to queue for your file and stay in the channel until the completion of the send.
I have a partial download of a release obtained through a file server. If I resume the download using bittorrent, will my file be fine?
Yes, that is fine due to the nature of how bittorrent works. However the reverse is not true.
How do I obtain channel operator or half-operator status?
By asking, you have already discarded your elgibility.
Why was I banned from the channel?
Please refer to the rules given by the !rules command in the main channel and please follow them. Bans are handed out to users that break the rules, without warning at times. General disrespect to any operator or half-operator supercede the rules and rewarded with a ban. We are not here for your amusement. Likewise, causing trouble in the channel through trolling or flamebaiting will be served with the same treatment. If you feel that your ban was uncalled for, talk to the operater who served the ban.
